The poor left in the cold over energy tariffs

The Coalition Government Energy Secretary, Liberal Democrat Ed Davey once claimed: “Families (are) to save £300 on energy under Government gas and electricity tariff plans”.

But which families? Not the poorest – and that’s not fair.

Around 5.9 million people in the UK have a prepayment energy meter, the vast majority because of low income or poverty.

As a consequence of this, they are unable to benefit from this Government incentive.

Some people who move into a home with these meters already fitted may not want them, but also may not want or be able to afford the expense of removing them.

With so many people missing out on cheaper tariffs, we need a better policy from a better Government.

Under this Government you've paid too much. A Labour Government will freeze your bills and put a stop to this.

Don't get left out in the cold. Vote Labour for fairer energy prices.
